Would you like to become a Catholic? Do you know someone who would like to become a Catholic?
Would you like to become Catholic? In the fall we will begin our Order of Christian Initiation (OCIA) for those who would like to become Catholic. We welcome those who want to learn more about the Catholic faith and would like to prepare themselves to receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and First Eucharist. Those in OCIA go through a encouraging process of discernment, prayer, education, and sharing with others on their journey. They are also instructed in the meaning of the sacraments and the theology and traditions of the Catholic faith.
OCIA is intended for adults who:
Are not baptized Christians and would like to be fully initiated and welcomed into the Catholic Church through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist;
Were baptized as Christians in another Christian community. Seeking full communion with the Catholic Church, these adults receive the sacraments of Confirmation and the Eucharist;
Were baptized as Catholics in infancy or childhood but who have not received the sacraments of Eucharist or Confirmation.
The OCIA program begins in the Fall with two meetings a month on Sunday mornings from 9:30 AM - 10:45 AM. It culminates at the Easter Vigil when those who have been preparing for Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist are brought into the Church. If you are interested in becoming Catholic or would like to learn more please contact the Parish Office at (860) 658-7627.
